INDUSTRIES

AEO by industry —
a different question shape
needs a different document

The AEO task list does not change much from one industry to another. What changes is the shape of the question customers put to AI, and that shape decides which document gets picked as the answer.

In one paragraph

Industry AEO is the work of designing documents to be cited, using the types of question customers actually put to AI as the organising principle. Technical checks, structured data and measurement procedure are the same whichever industry it is, but the shape of the question differs sharply. A question that describes a symptom and asks where to go, and a question asking which of two products is better, call for entirely different documents as the answer.

So the basis for dividing industries is not market size but question shape. The five below share one thing — purchases decided after comparison searching — while differing enough from each other in question type and regulatory constraint to be worth separating.

WHEN YOU NEED THIS

When you have these problems,
this is the work you need

These are the situations we hear repeatedly in consultations. If any of them apply, start by measuring.

There is no way to confirm whether an agency knows the industry

Industry experience is usually evidenced by a client list, and the more regulated the industry, the less the client names can be disclosed. Navirang shows you instead what the questions in that industry look like and who is holding those slots right now.

What worked in another industry does not work in ours

A product comparison table that performs well in e-commerce becomes subject to medical advertising review in healthcare. Even with the same task list, the expressions available and the form the evidence has to take are different.

Communities and blogs always get cited for our industry's questions

A state where third-party media, not the brand's own site, hold the answer slot. Fixing only the website does not win the slot back here, so the approach changes.

Regulation limits the sentences we can write

Korea's Medical Service Act, the Bar Association's advertising rules, the Private Institute Act and the Act on Fair Labeling and Advertising each prohibit different things. Content written without knowing the regulation comes down before it ever gets cited.

WHAT WE DO

What Navirang
actually does

Written as units of work rather than abstract proposals. The scope of an engagement is set from this list.

Breaking down question types

We split the ways customers in that industry ask AI into types. Different types call for different length, structure and evidence in the answering document, so the types get settled before anything is written.

  • Symptom or situation — describing one's own state and asking where to go
  • Conditional — narrowing candidates by conditions such as location, price or qualification
  • Comparative — asking which of two options is better
  • Procedural — asking the order, what to prepare, and how long it takes

Confirming the sources cited today

We record which domains are being cited for those questions right now. Whether it is a competitor's site, a community or blog, or a public body or association document changes the response completely.

  • Citation domains counted per question
  • Whether and where your own domain appears
  • Separating out the slots held by third-party media

Confirming the regulatory boundary

We list the expressions that industry's advertising regulation prohibits, first. Regulation is a constraint, but it is also pressure to state your evidence — which works in favour of being cited.

  • Listing prohibited expressions (superlatives, guarantees, comparative advertising)
  • Confirming whether pre-review applies
  • Agreeing how evidence is to be cited

Designing the document that becomes the answer

We decide which document has to answer each type, and write in units that stay complete when cut. Where the industry's terminology differs from the words customers actually use, we join the two inside the same document.

  • One question mapped to one paragraph
  • Technical terms and everyday wording side by side
  • Evidence, source and update date stated

Sorting out the entity

Where brand information is scattered differs by industry. Healthcare tends to be split across map services and public lookup systems, legal across association registers, and commerce across marketplace storefront pages — each captured as a separate entity.

  • Comparing notation against the industry's official registries
  • Unifying company name, address and representative
  • Declaring the same entity through structured data

Re-measuring under the same conditions

Dividing by industry does not divide the measurement protocol. Question wording and session conditions stay fixed for repeated measurement, and any line that changes is recorded with its reason.

  • Question wording fixed
  • Logged-out sessions, same weekday, repeated
  • Mentions and citations counted separately

PROCESS

DELIVERABLES

What you
receive

We do not do work that ends in conversation. The documents below remain, and become the baseline for the next measurement.

Industry question type table

The questions arising in that industry split by type, with the document that has to answer each type written alongside.

Citation source tally

A table counting the domains currently cited per question, divided by character — your own, competitors, communities, public bodies.

Expression guide

The expressions that industry's advertising regulation prohibits, paired with the evidence-based expressions that can be used instead.

Content design document

The list of documents to be made, the question each has to answer, and the evidence each one needs.

Improvement priorities

An execution list sorted by effect against cost, with the items you can handle in-house marked as such.

How the industries were divided

The dividing axis
Question shape, not market size — a different type calls for a different answering document
The shared condition
Purchases decided after comparison searching (that is, purchases with a reason to ask AI)
Question types
Symptom or situation · conditional · comparative · procedural
Measurement protocol
One, whatever the industry — fixed question wording, logged-out sessions, mentions and citations counted separately
What we do not publish
The methodology for designing an industry question set, and client citation share

There are no per-industry client performance figures on this page. The only measurements we can publish are the ones where we measured ourselves (our own eight-week improvement log, and the field measurement across all 17 Korean provinces); client measurement is outside our disclosure scope. We do not invent numbers that do not exist yet in order to fill an industry page.

HOW IT CONNECTS

How it connects
to the other work

Our work moves as one piece. SEO builds the foundation for being found by search engines, AEO raises the odds of that information being cited in an answer, structured data helps machines understand the facts, and content supplies the evidence there is to cite.

Area Relationship to this work
AEO audit The single measurement of current citation state using the industry question set
Citable content design Actually writing the documents that answer the industry's question types
Structured data Aligning the industry's official registries with the facts on screen
Regional search measurement The 'where is it asked' axis — read crosswise against the industry axis
Measurement methodology The one measurement protocol that stays fixed across industries

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Q How does industry AEO differ from AEO in general?

A The task list is nearly the same; what differs is the shape of the question. Crawler accessibility checks, structured data and measurement procedure run the same way regardless of industry. What changes completely, according to the industry's question types and advertising regulation, is which questions you build documents for and what evidence those documents can carry in what wording.

Q If our industry is not listed here, can you still work with us?

A Yes. The five were chosen as a representative set whose question types differ sufficiently from one another, not as a list of the industries we can serve. The real test is not the industry classification but whether customers compare by searching before deciding. Where that holds, the procedure is the same whatever the industry.

Q Can we see results or case studies from our industry?

A We do not publish per-industry client performance figures, because the measurement results and citation share for a client are that client's asset. What we do publish in full is the record of Navirang measuring itself — question set, measurement conditions and denominator included. If you want to check our understanding of an industry, seeing an actual measurement run on that industry's questions in the free audit is more accurate than a client list.

Q We are in a regulated industry — is AEO safe for us?

A It proceeds inside the regulatory boundary. Industries with restricted advertising, such as healthcare and legal, cannot use superlatives, guarantees or comparative claims, and some material is subject to pre-review. Navirang lists that industry's prohibited expressions before starting and agrees an expression guide pairing them with evidence-based alternatives. Legal responsibility for the final advertising wording, and the role of applicant for any review, rest with the client; Navirang prepares the wording and the evidence for review.

Q Why are there no performance figures on the industry pages?

A Because there are no numbers we can publish yet. The figures Navirang publishes are limited to measurements of ourselves, and even then the question set and the denominator go out with them. Figures such as 'an average X% improvement' written with no conditions attached cannot be verified — that is the standard we have demanded of others in our own writing, so we apply it to our own pages.

Q How do the regional pages and the industry pages differ?

A They ask along different axes. The regional pages handle 'where is it asked', evidenced by field measurement of the composition of the top 10 Naver web documents across all 17 Korean provinces. The industry pages handle 'what is asked', evidenced by question types and regulatory constraints. In an actual project we read the two crosswise, because the same industry has a different competitor domain mix in a different region. The regional pages exist in Korean only, since a regional query does not hold as a search intent in English.

Q How do you design an industry question set?

A The design method itself is not published, because that is what Navirang sells. Two things are published: how questions get split into types (symptom or situation, conditional, comparative, procedural), and the conditions under which a settled question set gets measured (fixed wording, logged-out sessions, mentions and citations counted separately). Under contract, the client's own question set document is handed over as it is, so the same basis is available to you when comparing other agencies later.

Who is the answer to your industry's questions right now?

Give us the industry and the website address and we will run the free audit on that industry's questions. An actual measurement shows our grasp of an industry more accurately than a client list.

We reply within one business day.
