GEO consulting — the scope and conditions to check before you engage
What has to be checked before engaging is not the methodology but the scope. We put in writing, before the contract, what we take on and what we do not, which questions get measured in how many engines under what conditions, and what moves the cost.
In one paragraph
GEO consulting bundles into one engagement the work of preparing a site and its brand information so that generative AI uses the brand as material when building an answer, and measuring the result repeatedly under the same conditions. Execution is assigned across five branches — discoverability, content clarity, entity consistency, consistency with external sources, technical accessibility — and we keep AEO as the central axis while handling the wider layer around it inside the same design. This page carries only what to check before a contract: the scope of work, the measurement conditions, and what moves the cost.
So this page is judgement material rather than a company introduction. What an agency can control ends at scope of work, measurement conditions and reporting method; whether you appear in the answer sits outside that. How each of the five branches is actually worked on is set out on its own page, so here you can compare what enters the contract and what falls outside it against the same items as any other quote.

WHEN YOU NEED THIS
When you have these problems, this is the work you need
These are the situations we hear repeatedly in consultations. If any of them apply, start by measuring.
Ours is an industry with a lot of comparison searching before purchase
In a market where customers ask which firm is any good before they enquire, where the answer to that question gets made touches the revenue path directly. Who holds that slot right now is confirmable by asking, and that is the first material for deciding whether to start.
A wrong description mixed into AI answers is actually getting in the way of sales
If customers bring that sentence to you during their checks, the priority rises immediately. Conversely, in a market with no wrong descriptions and little comparison searching we will say the priority is low right now — which of the two it is separates once the answers are measured.
GEO packages with the same name contain different things
The number of questions measured and the number of answer engines are the product specification. A proposal measuring 20 questions in 3 engines and one measuring 40 in 7 differ several-fold in observation volume, so those two numbers have to be aligned before the figures are compared.
The proposal lists what they will do and not what they will not
A contract with no scope written down leads to expectations diverging mid-engagement. Separating out, before starting, the items needing developer access, the factual information only the client can settle, and the outcomes an agency does not control, reduces the arguments about responsibility later.
WHAT WE DO
What Navirang actually does
Written as units of work rather than abstract proposals. The scope of an engagement is set from this list.
Dividing what we take from what we leave, first
The first page of the contract is not a task list but a boundary. Items faster handled in-house, and areas already owned elsewhere, have to come out first — then cost attaches only to what remains.
Ownership assigned per item — Navirang, the development agency, the client's internal team
Items better handled in-house taken out of the contract, with the method handed over
Pages owned by another agency excluded as a list, with a change notification method agreed
Facts only the client can settle (pricing, service scope, history) requested as a materials list
Writing the measurement conditions down before the contract
The question count and engine count are both the denominator of the performance metrics and the specification of the quote. Attach those values to the contract and every ratio in later reports reads on the same basis, comparable with another agency's proposal on the same items.
A measurement conditions appendix attached to the contract — question set size, target engines, session conditions
The recording rule that counts mentions and citations apart, with the denominator stated beside every ratio
Execution begins only after the pre-start baseline is recorded
When a condition must change, the date and reason are recorded and the round is not mixed with earlier ones
Assigning execution items and completion criteria across the five branches
Execution is assigned across discoverability, content clarity, entity consistency, consistency with external sources and technical accessibility. How each branch is worked on lives on its own page; what gets decided here is what goes into this contract and what comes out.
Marking, per branch, what this contract includes and excludes
A written completion test per item (what makes it finished)
Items needing developer access separated out as a handover document
Items deliberately not done this time recorded with the reason, as material for the next contract
Settling the values that move the cost
A quote starts by putting values into six lines. Figures produced before those values are settled are not comparable with each other, so the free audit confirms the current state before the scope is fixed.
Confirming existing asset state with the free audit (indexing, crawler access, structured data, entity notation)
Building the quote basis table with settled values in all six lines
When the scope changes, recording the changed line and the reason so it joins to the next quote
Stating what we do not do (ranking guarantees, automated repeat searching, paid article placement) as excluded items
Settling the reporting method and the handover
The records have to stay with the client after the engagement for the next judgement to be possible. Agreeing the report format and data ownership at the start means measurement continues under the same conditions even when the owner changes or the work moves elsewhere.
Agreeing the format and cadence of round records and monthly reporting
Stating in the contract the reporting principle that rounds with worse numbers are not omitted
Ownership of the question set, the raw observations and the design documents rests with the client
At the end of the engagement, all documents transfer as they are
PROCESS
In what order does it run
What you receive at each stage is stated alongside it. Durations are the working time Navirang controls; they are not a promise about when results appear.
01 3–5 days
Scope confirmation
We confirm the business, the brands regarded as competitors and the channels in operation, and draw the boundary of what this engagement takes on. Items better handled in-house come out at this stage.
Scope definition
02 1–2 weeks
Baseline audit
The question set and measurement conditions get settled and the current state measured across all 7 answer engines. Technical checks run alongside so content problems and technical ones are separated.

Design and quote
Execution items get order, ownership and completion criteria per branch, and the six cost lines get settled values to close the scope.

Re-measurement and reporting
We measure again under the same conditions as the baseline and organise the change per metric. Rounds with worse numbers go in as they are, and where a condition changed that fact is stated with it.

DELIVERABLES
What you receive
We do not do work that ends in conversation. The documents below remain, and become the baseline for the next measurement.
Scope definition
What we take on and what we do not, ownership per item (Navirang, development agency, client), and the list of materials the client provides — on one page. Checking whether what we will not do is written down is the place to start.
Measurement conditions appendix
Question set size, target answer engines, session conditions, the denominator of the ratios, and the recording rules, fixed and attached to the contract. Every figure in later reporting reads only under these conditions.
Quote basis table
The six cost lines with settled values. Because it shows which value in which line produced the figure, it is comparable with another proposal on the same items, and a revision history is appended when the scope changes.
Round records and handover documents
The baseline, the raw observations per round, the execution assignment table and the monthly reports, bundled. Ownership rests with the client and everything transfers at the end, so measurement can continue on the same basis even with another agency.
What moves the cost
Site size
The number of pages in scope for review and editing. More pages means proportionally more technical review and document structure work
Number of questions
How many questions get measured. More questions means more measurement and recording, and a larger denominator for the ratios
Number of engines
Whether to watch all 7 or only the primary ones. Adding one engine adds observations equal to the question count
Scope of content production
Whether we hand over the structure specification only or write the copy too. The client supplies the facts; we set the structure
Measurement cadence
Whether it ends at a single audit, or runs weekly re-measurement with monthly reporting
State of existing assets
How far indexing, crawler access, structured data and entity notation are already in place. With an empty foundation, SEO-layer work attaches first
The reason no figure appears on this page is that numbers produced before those six lines have values are not comparable with each other. Two GEO packages with the same name are different products if the question count and engine count differ. We confirm the current state with the free audit, put values into the six lines to close the scope, then quote — and when the scope changes mid-engagement we record the changed line and the reason so the next quote compares on the same basis. For a rough sense of scale up front, the starting figure when specific values go into the six lines is published with its conditions on the pricing page.
HOW IT CONNECTS
How it connects to the other work
Our work moves as one piece. SEO builds the foundation for being found by search engines, AEO raises the odds of that information being cited in an answer, structured data helps machines understand the facts, and content supplies the evidence there is to cite.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
QWhat does GEO consulting cost?
AIt varies with the conditions, so we do not state a figure without them. The starting figure when specific values go into the six lines is published with its conditions on the pricing page. Six things move the cost — the number of pages in scope, the number of questions measured, the number of answer engines, the scope of content production, the measurement cadence, and the state of existing assets such as indexing, crawler access and entity notation. We confirm the current state with the free audit, put values into those six lines to close the scope, and then quote. The quote states which value went into each line, so you can compare it with another agency's proposal on the same items.
QWhat is the contract term?
AIt depends on the nature of the work. A single audit takes one to two weeks and design two to three, and stopping there is a legitimate outcome. Where repeated measurement is operated, several rounds have to accumulate before judgement is possible — we hold eight weeks of weekly measurement as one bundle on our own site, because values wobble round to round and one or two results cannot separate change from noise. That said, we do not make a long term a condition, and receiving only the audit and proceeding in-house is fine.
QWill you make sure we appear in AI answers?
AWe do not guarantee it. So the contract states only what we control rather than the result — scope of work, completion criteria per item, measurement conditions, reporting cadence. We do not write a visibility rank or a citation count for a given engine as a target, because we are not the side that decides that value, and OpenAI likewise states in its official documentation that there is no way to guarantee top placement. Rounds where the numbers got worse are reported without omission.
QWhat happens to the measurement records and documents when the contract ends?
AThey stay with the client. The question set, the raw observations per round, the scope definition and the execution assignment table transfer at the end, and we do not deliver them in a form that only works while we hold them. The baseline and the measurement conditions have to remain for measurement to continue on the same basis when the owner changes or the work moves — otherwise the accumulated rounds become numbers with nothing to compare against.
QDoes our industry need GEO?
AThe purchase path matters more than the industry. We look at whether it is a market where customers spend a long time comparison-searching before enquiring, whether wrong descriptions of the brand are circulating, and whether external material exists that can confirm the company. If none of the three applies, we say the priority is low. How you are actually answered right now is confirmable by asking, so the judgement can be made from that result.
QHow do we choose a GEO agency?
AAsk for three documents before the contract and most of it separates — the scope definition, the measurement conditions appendix, and the quote basis table. The scope definition has to state what will not be done and the ownership per item; the measurement conditions have to carry the question count and the engine count as numbers; and the quote has to be calculated on top of those numbers. Without the three documents there is no common item on which proposals can be compared at all. You are welcome to make the same request of us.
QDo we need separate AEO and GEO contracts?
AIt runs as one. The execution items overlap considerably, so splitting the contract in two attaches cost twice to the same work and leaves it impossible to separate which contract produced the result. Our central axis is AEO and GEO widens the reach of that axis by one layer toward the brand, so scope and ownership are divided inside one design.
Looking at the current state is faster than looking at a quote
Send us a URL and the free audit confirms your current mention and citation status in the answer engines. Scope and quote get decided from that result.
